Our development process is heavily influenced by the principles in Agile Software Development / SCRUM. We have a home-grown system for automated builds and tests. We use daily 10-minute standup meetings for all developers to keep all up-to-date and minimize meeting time. Our sprint cycle is 4 weeks, and the teams manage themselves. Our process has cut time to release, increased visibility from the outsides and cut overhead time overall, and is recognized within Yahoo!. We believe this gives us an edge, and enables developers to learn more and have more control over their own activites.
